What a great title for my first post, right?! I promise to get more creative as time goes on. However, this really is just an introductory post to say hi and thank you for deciding to follow me on my journey to running AND FINISHING the 2012 Chicago Marathon!
I can't begin to describe all the feelings I have about training for, and running, a marathon. I feel excited, nervous, terrified, crazy, scared, happy, proud, and so many other things. It isn't going to be easy, training for the marathon. Not only do I have to log more miles per week than I ever have before, but I'm going to have to not slack off in the training at all. I've done two ten mile races and one half marathon, and I did not train well at all. This time will be different though. I refuse to post a DNF, and I would love to say I ran the entire marathon without walking.
Not only will this blog be about my running (because let's be honest, that could get pretty dull), but it will also discuss things such diet, fitness, and overall mental and physical health. Running the Chicago Marathon is my BIG goal this year, but overall I just want to improve my health, and drop a few pounds as I hit the pavement hard in preparation for 26.2 miles. I've got lots of other races already lined up, so I'll update on those as well.
Thanks again to all my family and friends who I know will be here to support me as I reach for my goal. I look forward to feedback from you. It is going to take a lot of encouragement and positive thoughts and prayers to get me through some of the tough training days I'll have ahead of me. And...don't forget to let me know how I can support you on whatever journey you may be on this year!
